The Chaos of Eros by Philip Roth

Due to contractual limitations, I can’t publish Philip Roth’s “The Chaos of Eros,” on this website though it will appear in the printed version of Heart of a Man.

In 2008, The Dying Animal, from which “The Chaos of Eros” is excerpted, was made into a movie, Elegy, starring Ben Kingsley and Penelope Cruz. This is the trailer:

Philip Roth was one of the most awarded American writers of his generation. His books have received the National Book Award, the National Book Critics Circle award, and the PEN/Faulkner Award. He received a Pulitzer Prize for his 1997 novel, American Pastoral. The Human Stain (2000) was awarded the United Kingdom’s W.H. Smith Literary Award for the best book of the year. In 2001, in Prague, Roth received the inaugural Franz Kafka Prize. He passed away on May 22, 2018. [from his Wikipedia entry].
